Staging your home can be an important step in moving it from listed to SOLD! Strategically staging helps displays your home’s best features. In the 5 Golden Rules of Home Staging on a Budget we’ll look over cost-effective ways to make your home show with its best foot forward!
Golden Rule 1: De-Personalize
It’s important to allow buyers to see themselves in the home, not your family. While many of our precious memories are framed on the wall and furniture, when it comes time to sell your home it is best to safely pack these valuable items. Find temporary storage for your boxes out of your home as to not break our next rule!
Golden Rule 2: Maximize
It’s time to maximize the space in your home! A major part of this is to declutter your items. Closets will be the biggest areas to focus on for your space maximization. You will want your home to appear spacious with abundant storage space but this is hard to achieve when your clothes are tightly packed into your closets.
Golden Rule 3: Sanitize
Cleaning is the easiest (and cheapest) way to make your home appear better! We all know how great it feels and looks after your spring clean! Buyers will feel and appreciate the dedicated clean as well when they look at your home. Work cleaning your home from top to bottom and in all of the nooks and crannies.
Golden Rule 4: Modernize
So you don’t live in a Victorian mansion? Well if your home doesn’t have outstanding time period built-ins then there is a chance that your home could use some simple updates! Go ahead and check popular inspiration sources for classy, timeless updates that are quick and simple. Replacing items such as cabinet handles, faucets, light fixtures can help your home more appealing to buyers. This helps make your home not feel out-of-date which can drive buyers to a lower offer.
Golden Rule 5: Neutralize
Wow what some new paint can do! A fresh coat of a neutral paint can help transform your whole home. While you may love that bright pop of color on the walls, a potential buyer could see it as a burdensome task of having to repaint the home to match their style. Avoid having paint choices be a make-or-break issue for buyers and paint your home interior a pleasing, neutral color all buyers can see themselves in!
